Zithromax (azithromycin) is a highly-efficient antibiotic intended for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. It slows down the multiplication of bacteria helping your immune system to fight off the infection. Do not take Zithromax along with any other medications you are using at the moment, and do not start any new ones without previously discussing it with your health care provider. Here are the drugs that you are not supposed to combine with Zithromax unless your health care provider is aware and has already adjusted your dosage: ergotamine, cyclosporine, anticoagulants, dihydroergotamine, phenytoin, terfenadine, medications that suppress the immune system, and digoxin.
